You would have to add up the total participants in the survey first. So, 30+35+40+25+10=140. Now, you would take the number of people under 17 (30) and divide it by the total participants (140). 30/140=21.4%. Hope this helps.

Ok, so when you're reading the bar graph, you can tell how many participants are in each group by looking at the y-axis. For example, there are 30 people under 17. There are 35 people aged 18-24, etc. The numbers on the y-axis you add up. So 30 (for under 17)+35(for 18-24), etc. Now, a percentage is basically a proportion.  So the whole, which in this case is the total amount of people surveyed, will always be the denominator. Then the portion that we are trying to find, which in this case is the people surveyed under 17, will be the numerator. Hence, 30/140.

The population of Cambridge, Massachusetts, is 101,355. The population of Boston is 616,535. What is the population of the two cities altogether? Hana solved this problem. She said that the answer was 717,890. Which statement is correct?

Hana's statement is indeed the correct one. How I determined this answer:

The question asks you for the total populations of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Boston, Massachusetts, altogether. That means you have to add the two given numbers together: 616,535 + 101,355 = 717,890. This, of course, is also what Hana did and got for the answer, therefore her statement is the correct one.

Hope I helped you! :)

Which problem could be solved with the expression 4*(4+2) A - Danny ran 4 miles in the morning and 2 miles in the afternoon. He did this for 4 days. How many miles did he run? B - Bobby sold 4 baseball cards on Monday. He then sold 2 more on Tuesday. He sold the same amount for 2 weeks. How many did he sell? C - Suzanne makes wooden dolls. She made 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. She did this for 4 days. How many dolls did she make? A Danny's Problem B Bobby's Problem C Suzanne's Problem

He ran for six (6) miles every day. 4 in the morning and 2 at night = 6 per day.

He did this for four (4) days. The way to figure this would be to go 6 * 4. This equals 24 miles.

Go back a few steps (punny!).

So days multiplied by how many miles he ran a day which is calculated by miles in morning added to miles at night.

days*(miles per morning + miles per night)

days=4
miles per morning=4
miles per night = 2

4 * (4+2)

Calculating this out....

4 * (4+2)

(4+2 = 6)

4 * 6 = 24.

Unit 2 | Lesson 10 Lesson Assessment: Core Focus: Problem Solving with Equations Quiz Question Navigator Choose the answer. 1. Marco and Drew stacked boxes on a shelf. Marco lifted 9 boxes and Drew lifted 14 boxes. The boxes that Drew lifted each weighed 8 lb less than the boxes Marco lifted. Which expression represents the total number of pounds Drew lifted? Let m represent the weight of the boxes that Marco lifted. A. m − 8 B. 14(m − 8) C. 9(m + 8) D. 112m Question Resources

The answer is B. 14(m − 8)

m represent the weight of the boxes that Marco lifted.
d represent the weight of the boxes that Drew lifted.

The boxes that Drew lifted each weighed 8 lb less than the boxes Marco lifted:
d = m - 8

So the weight of one box that Drew lifted is (m - 8). Since he lifted boxes, the
total number of pounds Drew lifted is  14(m - 8)

In the problem solving process, the final step is to try to ______. a. Generate multiple solutions b. Review your results c. Decide on a solution d. Evaluate your choices

The final steps is to review your results.

This means that you have to check if the results meet the original requirements or statements.

Ideally, you should try to solve the same problem by a second method, and/or you should substitute the results into the given relationships given in the problem statement to chek coherence of your results.

Then the answer is option b.

Help with stats pls! "The amount of money spent weekly on cleaning, maintenance, and repairs at a large restaurant was observed over a long period of time to be approximately normally distributed, with mean μ = $597 and standard deviation σ =$39. (a) If $646 is budgeted for next week, what is the probability that the actual costs will exceed the budgeted amount? (Round your answer to four decimal places.)" Not sure how to set up this problem.. do I find the z score first? And plug in$646 for X? If so, then do I use the "Ncdf" function on my calculator?

We are given with
μ = $597 σ =$39
X = 646

The z-score is determine using:
z = (X -
μ) / σ
z = (646 - 597) / 39
z = 1.2546

I'm not sure about using the Ncdf function but you can refer to the z-score tables to get the probability for z = 1.2456 which is 0.8944 but this refer to the probability that the actual cost will be less than the budgeted amount. To get the probability that the actual cost will be greater than the budgeted amount we subtract the obtained probability from 1,
1 - 0.8944 = 0.1056

So, the probability is 0.1056 or 10.56%, say 11%.

Choose what the expressions below best represent within the context of the word problem. The length of a rectangle is 12 inches more than its width. What is the width of the rectangle if the perimeter is 42 inches? x best represents . x + 12 best represents .

The question is what both experssions best represent in the context of the problem.

The expresssion x best represents the width of the rectangle.

The expression x + 12 best reprents the lenght of the rectangle.

This is because if you call x the width, then the length is 12 more than that, i.e. 12 + x.

If you wanted to solve the problem now you could write

2*(width + length) = perimeter

2(x + 12 + x) = 24 and solve for x.

But the answer to the question is:

x best represents the width of the rectangle.

x + 12 best reprents the lenght of the rectangle.

PLEASE HELPPP!!! 1. Choose the equation that could be used to solve the given number problem. The sum of two consecutive integers is 141. Find the integers. n + 1= 141 2n + 2 = 141 2n = 141 2n + 1 = 141 2. Choose the equation that could be used to solve the given number problem. The sum of two consecutive odd integers is 112. Find the integers. 2n + 3 = 112 2n + 2 = 112 2n + 1 = 112 n + 2 = 112

1) let n be first integer. Next consecutive integer is n+1
If their sum is 141 we can write:
n + (n+1) = n + n + 1 = 2n + 1 = 141

2) now this is bit tricky. First integer is:
2n-1
the reason for this is because 2n is always even number for any n. when we subtract 1 we always get odd number. Next consecutive odd number is:
2n-1 + 2 = 2n+1
when we sum these 2 numbers we get:
2n-1 + (2n+1) = 2n - 1 + 2n + 1 = 4n.
Now the important part. 4n and 2n are both always even numbers so it doesnt matter if we write 2n or 4n or 6n. If you give yourself thought experiment you will see that sum of two consecutive odd integers is always even integer.

which means that we can write our formula in multiple ways and one of them is:
2n + 2.
2n is always even number and if we add 2 again we get even number.
