You would have to add up the total participants in the survey first. So, 30+35+40+25+10=140. Now, you would take the number of people under 17 (30) and divide it by the total participants (140). 30/140=21.4%. Hope this helps.

Ok, so when you're reading the bar graph, you can tell how many participants are in each group by looking at the y-axis. For example, there are 30 people under 17. There are 35 people aged 18-24, etc. The numbers on the y-axis you add up. So 30 (for under 17)+35(for 18-24), etc. Now, a percentage is basically a proportion.  So the whole, which in this case is the total amount of people surveyed, will always be the denominator. Then the portion that we are trying to find, which in this case is the people surveyed under 17, will be the numerator. Hence, 30/140.

The answer is A.

He ran for six (6) miles every day. 4 in the morning and 2 at night = 6 per day.

He did this for four (4) days. The way to figure this would be to go 6 * 4. This equals 24 miles.

Go back a few steps (punny!).

So days multiplied by how many miles he ran a day which is calculated by miles in morning added to miles at night.

days*(miles per morning + miles per night)

days=4
miles per morning=4
miles per night = 2

4 * (4+2)

Calculating this out....

4 * (4+2)

(4+2 = 6)

4 * 6 = 24.

So A is the answer.

Not sure how to set up this problem.. do I find the z score first? And plug in $646 for X? If so, then do I use the "Ncdf" function on my calculator?

We are given with

σ = $39
X = 646

The z-score is determine using:
z = (X - 
 μ) / σ
z = (646 - 597) / 39
z = 1.2546

I'm not sure about using the Ncdf function but you can refer to the z-score tables to get the probability for z = 1.2456 which is 0.8944 but this refer to the probability that the actual cost will be less than the budgeted amount. To get the probability that the actual cost will be greater than the budgeted amount we subtract the obtained probability from 1,
1 - 0.8944 = 0.1056

So, the probability is 0.1056 or 10.56%, say 11%.

1) let n be first integer. Next consecutive integer is n+1
If their sum is 141 we can write:
n + (n+1) = n + n + 1 = 2n + 1 = 141

2) now this is bit tricky. First integer is:
2n-1
the reason for this is because 2n is always even number for any n. when we subtract 1 we always get odd number. Next consecutive odd number is:
2n-1 + 2 = 2n+1
when we sum these 2 numbers we get:
2n-1 + (2n+1) = 2n - 1 + 2n + 1 = 4n.
Now the important part. 4n and 2n are both always even numbers so it doesnt matter if we write 2n or 4n or 6n. If you give yourself thought experiment you will see that sum of two consecutive odd integers is always even integer.

which means that we can write our formula in multiple ways and one of them is:
2n + 2.
2n is always even number and if we add 2 again we get even number.

answer is 2n+2
