What do I do to start this problem.for #4

Divide the 228 by 5 and you should get 45.6 or rounding, 46

So, there were 46 girls and 182 boys.

You can check by multiplying 46 by 5 and you will get 228

Hope this helped

Clark Kent walks 3 miles west and then 4 miles north. How far is it for Superman to fly in a straight line back to his starting point? (It makes a right triangle.)

You can use the Pythagorean theorem to solve this problem. 3 miles west would be 3 units to the left on a graph, and 4 miles north would be four units up on a graph. The last line would be the hypotenuse. Now, if you know about special right triangles, then it can be recognized that the triangle is a 3-4-5 triangle, and the hypotenuse is 5 units. Otherwise, the Pythagorean theorem can be used.

a^2+b^2=c^2
3^2+4^2=c^2
9+16=c^2
25=c^2
sqr 25=sqr c^2
5=c

Please help me with number 5 I have the start.

So the ratio is 7:5 and the total profit is 90$ so if you added 7 and 5 together you would get a total of 12 parts and if you divided 90$ by 12 you would get 7.5 ... so if you take the 7.5 back into the original 7:5 ratio and times it by each term/ 7.5 x 7 = 52.5 , 7.5 x 5 = 37.5 / add the two totals together/ 52.5 + 37.5 = 90 (the original total profit)

NEEDED ASAP PLEASE A relation is plotted as a linear function on the coordinate plane starting at point C (0,−1)(0,−1) and ending at point D (2,−11)(2,−11) . What is the rate of change for the linear function and what is its initial value? Select from the drop-down menus to correctly complete the statements.The rate of change is -11, -5, 0, 5.and the initial value is -11, -2, -1, 0.

The rate of change for your linear function is the slope.  You can use the points C and D to calculate it.
slope = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = (-11 - (-1))/(2 - 0) = -10/2 = -5
I'm not sure what is meant by initial value, but maybe you are looking for the y-intercept of the line.

The y-intercept is the point where the line crosses the y axis, so where x = 0.  You have that because your line passes through the point (0, -1).  When x = 0, y = -1.

Kathleen and Arnob both run from the park entrance along a loop. Kathleen starts walking from the park entrance and gets a 5-mile head start on Arnob. The graph shows how far they have both traveled. How many minutes does it take Arnob to catch up to Kathleen? a. 9.8 b. 10 c. 73.5 d. 75

For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables.

We have then:

x: time in minutes

y: distance traveled.

We then have the following equations:

For Kathleen:

 y = (\frac{1}{15}) x + 5

For Arnob:

 y = (\frac{2}{15}) x

By the time Arnob reaches Kathleen we have:

 (\frac{1}{15}) x + 5 = (\frac{2}{15}) x

From here, we clear the value of x.

We have then:

 (\frac{2}{15}) x - (\frac{1}{15}) x = 5

 (\frac{1}{15}) x = 5\\x = (15) * (5)\\x = 75 min

Answer:

it takes Arnob to catch up to Kathleen 75 minutes:

d. 75

How do I start or even do this?

In geometry, if 2 angles are congruent, then their corresponding sides are also congruent. So you can have 3x-5=2x+9 & solve for x. Then substitute that value into all the other expressions to get the measures of all 3 sides. From there, you can determine the type of triangle

Clark Kent walks 3 miles west and then 4 miles north. How far is it for Superman to fly in a straight line back to his starting point? (It makes a right triangle.) Question 16 options: 3 miles 5 miles 7 miles 9 miles

You can use the pythagorean theorem a² + b² = c², where a and b are perpendicular sides of a triangle and c is the hypotenuse.

For this problem, a = 3, b = 4
c = √(3² + 4²) = √5² = 5

Sarah is keeping up with how many miles her car gets per gallon. She starts with a full tank. After 448 miles, she fills up with 14 gallons. If she plots the points (0,0) and (14,448) on a coordinate plane, what would be the y-value of the point (1,y)?

For starters, determine what the x and y coordinates mean. In this case, you have two numbers (not counting 0), 14 and 448. In the question, we can see that 14 is the number of gallons and 448 is the number of miles. As the point is (14,448) and points are set up as (x,y), we can determine that your x is your number of gallons and y is your number of miles. Now, we set up a ratio, which will be set up as  \frac{miles_1}{gallons_1} = \frac{miles_2}{gallons_2} . Using your known values as miles1 and gallons1 and your known x that is paired with the unknown y as miles2 and gallons2, we get  \frac{448}{14} = \frac{y}{1} . Now, as we have one in the denominator for our second ratio, we can simplify to  \frac{448}{14} =y. Now, we divide 448 by 14 to get 32, meaning our y value is 32 miles.

Find a bank account balance if the account starts with $50,has an annual rate of 7%,and the money left in the account for 8years

So the annual rate is 7% (0.07). The account starts with $50. The money sits in there untouched for 8 years.

1. 50 * 0.07 = 3.5
50 + 3.5=53.5

2. 53.5 * 0.07 = 3.745
53.5 + 3.745 = 57.245

3. 57.245 * 0.07

Now you do the rest. I did up to year two for you, go ahead and complete the rest by yourself. If you have questions please ask I would love to help. :)

The lengths of plate glass parts are measured to the nearest 1/10 mm. The lengths are discretely and uniformly distributed with values at every 1/10th mm, starting at 590.0 thru 590.9 mm. Determine the mean & variance of lengths.

For uniform, the mean is:

x¯ = (590.0+590.9) 2
The variance is:
σ = sqrt [ (n2−1) /12  ]

Where n=10.

The answer would be 590.45

I hope my answer has come to your help. Have a nice day ahead and may God bless you always!

A website sells used comic books. The table shows how the price of Painted Tiger, Volume 1, has changed over the last 4 months. If the price started at $7.37, what is the current price? Explain how you know that your answer is reasonable.

Explanation:
_______________
Price starts at: $7.37.
__________________
The first month, it increases by $0.50, so we add $0.50 to that starting value:
__________________
    $  7.37
+      0.50
___________
    $  7.80
_____________
The second month, it decreases by $0.38, so we subtract $0.38 from our last obtained value:
___________________
    $  7.80
-       0.38
___________
    $  7.42
______________
During the third month, it increases by $0.32, so we add $0.32 to our last obtained value:
______________
    $  7.42
+      0.32
___________
    $  7.74
______________
During the fourth month, it decreases by $0.12, so we subtract $0.12 from our last obtained value:
________________________
    $  7.74
-       0.12
___________
    $  7.62; which is our answer.
_____________
How do we know our answer is reasonable?
______________
We start with: $7.37, then plus $0.50, then minus 0.38, then plus 0.32, then minus 0.12.
_______________
The "minus 0.38"and "plus 0.32" do not "cancel out" , but come close to. The "plus 0.50" and "minus 0.12"; in consideration with the above sentence; suggest that the value should be over the starting price of $7.37, but not much more than $8.00; or even less than $8.00.
  Our answer is: $7.62; which seems "reasonable".

Two accounts earn simple interest. The balance y (in dollars) of Account A after x years can be modeled by y=10x 500. Account B starts with $400 and earns 5% simple annual interest. Question I need help with: Which account has a greater principal, and how much greater is the principal? Which account has a greater annual interest rate, and how much greater is the annual interest weight?

In an installment loan, a lender loans a borrower a principal amount P, on which the borrower will pay a yearly interest rate of i (as a fraction, e.g. a rate of 6% would correspond to i=0.06) for n years. The borrower pays a fixed amount M to the lender q times per year. At the end of the n years, the last payment by the borrower pays off the loan.

After k payments, the amount A still owed is

A = P(1+[i/q])k - Mq([1+(i/q)]k-1)/i, = (P-Mq/i)(1+[i/q])k + Mq/i. The amount of the fixed payment is determined byM = Pi/[q(1-[1+(i/q)]-nq)]. The amount of principal that can be paid off in n years isP = M(1-[1+(i/q)]-nq)q/i. The number of years needed to pay off the loan isn = -log(1-[Pi/(Mq)])/(q log[1+(i/q)]). The total amount paid by the borrower is Mnq, and the total amount of interest paid isI = Mnq - P.
